What a week!!

Whew! What a week I've had!!! Soooo busy, both at work and at home, so my crafting time has suffered. No craft session with my crafty mates this week, and very little time to craft on my own.

I did manage to whip up a couple of birthday cards for 2 little boys who turned 4 this week. I own several cutie stamps, but don't use them very often. I rarely make cute ATCs, and tend to save the cute stamps for card making. I used a couple of lovely Elzybells stamps to make these cards, and got out my growing Promarker collection for a colouring session.

Here's the image I coloured.
I stamped the knight and dragon first (isn't the dragon sweet?), then stamped them again on a postit note and cut it out to use as a mask so that I could stamp the castle in the background.

I love my Promarkers (I'm yet to venture into Copics, but I'm sure I will), they make blending colours so easy. I'm intending to stamp lots of my cutesy images out so that I can sit and colour them in front of the tv when I'm watching something with the kids. Then, when I need a last minute card, I'll have something to work with. Good idea eh???

Tuesday's crafting session

I'm really, really lucky, because I have a couple of friends who live close by who like to craft (and stamp in particular). Most Tuesdays see Kay, Michelle and myself geting together for a craft session of some sort. We all 3 have little girls of about the same age so they play while we get inky!!

Yesterday's session was at Kay's- it's always lovely to visit someone else's stamp stash- and a lovely time was had by all, despite Michelle not being able to make it. I made 3 ATCs, pictured below.

ATC Reflection

I made the Reflection ATC first, stamping off the piece of card at the edges. I then cut up the scrap card I was working on to make the backgrounds for the other 2! Waste not, want not, as they say!!

ATC Bzzz bloom

ATC Flutter blossom

I think Flutter blossom is my favourite- the dragonfly wings are stamped onto pink vellum, and only attached at the body, so they do flutter a little bit.

Wonder what I'll make next time?

Heir to the crown

I promised photos of the mdf crowns I'm working on, and here they are.

MDF crown before

I've made some progress today with my first one. It's painted in a raspberry pink and I've begun to stamp. After a bit of testing on some scrap card I decided to stamp in red Stazon. It's drying a dark pink colour, although I want to look at it again in the light of day- I can always paint over it!!!!

The crown so far....

I'll be in search of letters now to spell out the name, so watch this space.

Altering stuff

It's been a long busy day at work today. I'm a librarian in a University library, and the students have all started back, so it was bedlam today! I'm a bit too tired for creating today, but I did manage a little bit yesterday.

A friend has given me 2 mdf crowns to alter that used to be on her daughter's bedroom. They're bubblegum pink, and she wanted one altering for her daughter and gave me the other one for my lttle one. Well I made a start by sanding them and painting them with gesso. I'm intending to repaint them in better shades of pink- both girls have pink rooms, so I need to choose colours that will match.

After that? Well I'm not too sure yet. I want to put their names on and I'm sure stamping will be involved, and a bit of sparkle and glitter!! I'll add some photos tomorrow. I think I'll start with the names and take it from there.

Doodle do.

I love a bit of a doodle. I do lots of doodling when I have nothing else crafty to do. I save bits of scrap card with blobs of ink, that I've used to stamp off on. Anyway..... in my blog hopping tonight, I've found a lovely little doodle technique that I can't wait to try- barbed wire doodles. Take a look here.

A few examples

Righto then, thought I'd show you a few examples of what I do. These are all ATCs that I've swapped with other ATCers. I mainly swap via the Docrafts web site, but I also swap internationally on the Stamp Shack.

One of the most challenging things about making ATCs can be coming up with names for them all. For example, the ATCs posted here include, F.R.O.G.; I know why; Purple sunset and A skull, a swan and a key. I try not to be too literal with my names, but as you can see, it doesn't always happen.

Well this is cool!

How about this then? Posting to my blog via email. Verrrrry swish indeed.

Happy Saturday!!

Here I am starting a brand new blog. I've had a blog on another site for a while, but I'm finding it hard to get it to do what I want, so here I am trying again!!!!

Soooooo, want to know a bit about me? I'm a mom, a librarian and a craft-aholic! My love is stamping, can't get enough of it, especially creating stamped ATCs. I do try other mediums as well, some of which stay in my repertoire, but they're usually combined with stamping.

I'm never happier than when I have inky fingers! I'm hoping to share some of my creative attempts on here, along with finished work and in progress projects.

Take care!

Lisa :)
