Hip hip hooray- card

The final post for the tag trio today. I chose the toucan Yay! tag to make a birthday card.

Again, I used the same paint technique on the card, you can see how else I used it on the couple of posts preceding this one on the blog.

This time I went for three cheers stamped onto white card and roughly cut out. I added a black edge so they stood out.

The final card. Messy but fun!

Sunshine

Day 3 of the tags! This time I made a scrapbook page.

I had a lovely photo of my girl in the sunshine, so that was the focal point of the page, with a white border. I chose the sunshiney day tag as the main page embellishment.

I painted again on the page, blue and white and yellow, with more yellow through the sunburst mask to frame the photo.

I'd cut the white fabric with the eyelets off a pair of shorts, and as you do when you're a crafter, I put the n one side, because you never know when a page will need eyelets, right?

The tag fits in rather well, at a jaunty angle.

I couldn't find a word that fit in the right size, so I wrote Sunshine along the side of the page, and drew round it until it was big and bold enough.

I've not been brave enough to write on a page like this before, particularly a page that I'd nearly finished, but I think the bravery paid off, it looks good!

Thanks so much- card

You may have read yesterday's post where I showed the three tags I'd made. I chose the doggy one to make a thank you card.

I repeated the paint in blue and white over papers from Lollipop Box Club, and this time I added some yellow daubed through sequin waste.

The seagulls on the paper are fabulous, all in a row.

I used a set of foam backed stamps for the wording, I do like a typewriter font. Outlines in black as per usual...

Sunshiney day tags

Well now, I've had a busy couple of weeks. I've finished at the job I've been in for over 20 years, and I have a week or so before I start my new job, so I'm hoping to get crafting....

In the meantime, I have a couple of things to show you, my desk hasn't been totally neglected.

I made a set of tags, using a Lollipop Box Club kit I'd squirreled away from last summer I think! It was all sunshiney and summery, so I went with it wholesale! I had a couple of projects I wanted make, so the tags were made with an end destination in mind.

I use white tag bases, then added layers of blue, white and yellow acrylic paints, using the LBC sunburst stencil on each of them. I also used papers from the box with little yachts on.

I'd cut out all the elements from the cut out sheet in the kit and used lots on each tag. This one has the Relax arrow and the sunshine.

The Yay! is from the kit too, and the baker's twine. I went round edges with black pen, and added various matching bits and pieces.

For the next tag I'd moved the sun stencil a bit to the top of the tag.

The arrow and feather and twine are from the kit, the die cut pieces on this tag and the previous one are from Shimelle's Box of Crayons range.

I had a recipient in mind for this one who loves dogs, so the doggie made an appearance!

And for the last one I went full on seaside.

The little envelope from the LBC kit is so cute, and the arrow, Time to chill banner, twine, Sunshiney day, and starfish are all from the kit too.

I stapled the twine and ribbon to the top of each one. They had dark circles round the punched hole that I wanted to cover up.

Making things in batches makes life very easy. I dug out matching buttons, ribbon, gems, paperclips and used very similar things on each one. It also makes sense when you're getting paints or inks out to make several of things- maximise the drying time!

There you have it, three tags! I'll show you how I use them in the next few posts. I'm inspired to do this again, so expect more tags...

First time cowboy

A quick layout today, I had great plans for crafting loads this Sunday, but as usual, life got in the way! I settled for a well trodden path, of using up my scraps to create a background. I save offcuts, and branding strips, and they were building up, so it was good to get them stuck down!

It's an easy make, because the layout is pre-set, it's just a case of matching the colours up. This one has quite muted brown, green and burgundy tones, with the odd strip of red.

The words at the side of the photo include the journaling spot- this was my husband's first time riding a horse.

Elements:

Lots of strips of paper from my scrap box!

Alphabet- American Crafts- Heidi Swapp- Glitter letter stickers

Hello, you. A card

No fainting now, I made a card. For a very special person. I wanted something that said happy, cheerful, smiles :)

I made a scrapbook layout with gorgeous coloured splodges on it the other day- this one...

Sooooo, whilst I was at it, I created a few more splodges pieces of card to use on other projects. Hence, project 1- a card!

I stamped a lot of little Stampin Up flowers onto the dribbles, in matching colours.

Hello, You is from Stampin up as well, highlighted with black and white pens.

Then I added some pearls and sparkly gems to match the colour blocks. A spot of mounting onto punched card, and voila, a happy kinda card!

I'm entering this into the Craft Stamper challenge- click here to see more!

Sunny day

Sometimes it just doesn't turn out how you want it to.....

I was pleased with the background of this one- I used tissue paper and water to bleed the colour onto the page, and it came out really vibrantly coloured.

But it kinda went downhill from there! I don't hate it, but it's most certainly not my favourite ever layout.

I wanted to document a fun afternoon out we had a few weeks ago in the first of the Spring sunshine, but I'm not sure the colours really work. I do love the little washi triangles- I stuck them onto card and cut them out to form a banner.

Maybe too much pink?

Some fab embellishments on here though, I love that resin heart from Lottie Loves Paper, and the pink camera is adorable!

Elements:

From my stash- white card, tissue paper

Paper- The Bright Side- The Bright Side

Dear Lizzy- Stay colorful- resin shape
Dear Lizzy- Washi tape book
Dear Lizzy- Die cut shapes
American Crafts- Vicki Boutin- die cut frames
The bright side- Puffy stickers

Love- Let the adventures begin

I lifted the whole idea for this page from someone in the Mind the Scrap Facebook group- thanks Gemma! I loved the way the ink made a little rainbow of drips down the page. So I had to have a go!

I used bottles of chalk sprays, just dipping in my paintbrushes to splodge the inks on. I'm sooooooo pleased with how this turned out. So pleased I actually did a few more splodges on spare card with the intention of making some cards.

I'm also pleased with how this little cluster in the bottom left of the layout worked out. It's really pretty.

I love outlining in black pen. Can you tell?

Elements:
Papers: Heidi Swapp- Pineapple crush- Flamingle
Pink Paislee- Paige Evans- Turn the page 01

Embellishments:
Simple stories- Bliss- Stickers
Thickers words- Hope and dream
Bramble Fox- Petite perpextives and cloud outline

I am awesome

This photo of my beautiful Kiki cat is brilliant. She's saying "I'm awesome, do my bidding Hooman!"

The layout is from a fabulous challenge at the May bank holiday Mind the Scrap mini cyber crop. The challenge was to follow a list of instructions (a la Technical Challenge in Great British Bake Off), and it was really good fun!

Tiny attacher action alert!

One of the instruction steps was to add a banner- love how that has turned out, and how it pulls the cluster of embellishments together, and extends it under the photo.

I've used loads of favourite papers on this one, and they're not all from the same set, so I pulled it together with the pops of yellow. Little stacks of paper at the side of photos or at the edges of the page is a great way to use up scraps of paper offcuts.

Elements:

Papers: American Crafts- Jen Hadfield- Patio party- Glow
Decotime- Cardboard patterns
Photoplay- Cotton candy
Shimelle- Little by little- Seek the moment

Embellishments: Shimelle Box of Crayons ephemera
Thickers alphabet
Simple Stories I am- Bits and pieces
Tim Holtz tiny attacher
Crate paper- Here+There stickers
American crafts- Vicki Boutin- Die cut frames
Pink Paiselee- Auburn Lane- Embellishments
