Tur

A layout made at my recent crop attendance. I love this photo. It was an impulse take at an American football GB trials day my son was attending. It was a day of waiting around, watching and standing on astro turf. I love the green.

I went for black and white with green to make it pop. I like using one colour with black and white, it makes the photo stand out. I won the little tassel in a pass the parcel game at the crop. Perfect timing!

The doily stamp is from Sstampin Up and the French script is an old favourite stamp, I've probably used it more than any other stamp ever.

I cut a small glassine envelope in two to make it stretch- the grid stamp is Stampin' Up too.

I'm happy with this one. Favourite boots and a favoutie layout.

I'm my own kind of beautiful mini book

I made this little book at the Crop Central crop I went to last week. It's slightly bigger than A5, with a concertina centre. I stuck in some ribbons to tie it shut.

Inside cover- the arrows are cut from off cut scraps.

Looks nice all together- I'm intending it to be a gift, so I haven't added any photos yet- I may, but then again I may just let them put their own in.

I sandwiched the ribbons between the back cover and the insert.

The back cover has little I Am affirmations on, and I went round everything with black ink- I find it gives it all definition.

Crop!

I'd never been to a crop until a week ago when I attended one organised by Cal Summers not far away from me, just into Staffordshire, called Crop Central. Cick on the link for more info. I found it on Facebook and Cal and the ladies at the crop couldn't have been more welcoming.

I'll admit to a minor panic about what to take with me- I whittled it down to as much as I could carry, lol. This is my little tote bag stuffed to the seams.

And no, that's not a bottle of wine, it's my water bottle! I also took the wheelie crate you can just see peeking out behind with all my 12x12s and other essentials.

I had a very generous table all to myself, and some lovely people to chat to all day.

I made a few layouts and a lovely little mini book- I'll show you in the next couple of posts, but here's the first layout I completed.

I chose to work in black, white, grey and yellow. I stamped the spodges down the side and splashed some yellow paint droplets onto the page as well.

I picked out a few camera elements with the right colours, and lots of appropriate words and tags.

The believe is sparkly and it's a Thicker.

Oh, and the star of the piece, a little cardboard pouch gifted to me by Sarah, one of the other croppers. She'd had some photos in it, and very kindly gave it to me when I commented on it. it matched perfectly, and I'll be using it to store my journalling.

Anyway I'm sold on going to a crop, can't wait for next month!

First car

A scrapbook layout to show you today. The photo was taken last year when my boy got his first car. I used the colour of his jacket to pull it all together, so the teal featured throughout as an accent.

I swooshed the ink pad down the side of the page to even up the layout. I also re-used some pretty paper bags- the pale aqua stripes and the white with black squares. I love to recycle.

Best things

I made a little card for someone who needed a boost, and these bits kinda fit together.

It's a 6x6 card, and I used lots of bits from Lollipop Box Club. The paper is from a really old kit.

The tag and doily are from a more recent kit- I like using tags, they're a great focal point on a card.

The Best things stamp I've had forever, and the little stars are from a LBC kit too- I've since lost the stamp, I know it's stuck to something on my desk, but I've yet to find it1

And my next project-  I'm crocheting a bag to keep my crochet in....

You're awesome

This was one of those got to get my Lavinia stamps out times. I'd got the idea for a card with a watercolour inked heart in the background.

I cut a stencil and dipped the heart gap into a mix of Distress Ink and water. I added the smudges of yellow round the edges for definition.

The grass stamps at the bottom are Stampin' Up, much used, much loved.

I added Glamour Dust for sparkle, and tehn for good measure made a bookmark to match.

Missing octagon!

Today I laid out all of the octagons for my Persian tiles blanket. I was so excited to see what it all looked like together. Imagine my horror- there's an octagon missing!!!

Still....it looks good though, right?

Off to make that other octagon..

Tag me in

Sometimes I spot something that I have to use. I had my car serviced last week, and they always tie a little tag onto my keycard with my registration number to identify it. I love tags like this, something to reuse!

Whilst I was on my stencil and doodle blow out I made this little doozy. (See my last few posts for details).

Looks nice mounted onto black card. This might end up as a bookmark, or maybe on a layout, we'll see!

Continuing the theme....

In yesterday's post I told you how I'd used up some excess ink on a sheet of white card.

It was really pretty, so obviousy I decided to put stuff all over it...

I sponged through stencils using Distress Inks, and stamped scribbled circles and stars.

As I've been doing on several projects recently I then outlined the stencils in black ink. It turns the spots into seed heads, and gives the stencils a direction.

Spots and swishes of white ink pen help things to pop out.

It needed smething else so I added black stars around the paler stamped stars.

Kinda loving how this turned out. No idea how I'm going to use it yet, I'm thinking an accent on a scrapbook page and possibly a couple of cards.

My word of the year. Part 2.

Yesterday's post introuced my word of the year- kind.

Deciding on one word was tough! I went through a few. I was almost there with commit, but kind won. I feel that I'm already kind to others, but I forget to be kind to myself. So this year I'm deterined to be kind to me. That might mean allowing myself some me-time every now and then, or it might be being kinder to myself when I make a mistake. I need to commit to being healthier, but committing is a symptom of my decision to be kinder to myself.

I'd made the planner inset above so that I'd see it daily, but I also wanted to document how the I'd come to the word. I went for a travelers notebook page. I love, love, love working on those little pages!

I started by stamping the scribbled circles from this month's Lollipop Box Club kit and masking them off with amsking fluid (stinky!).

Colour came from a swoosh or two of distress ink on a non-stick mat, spritzed with water and then dunked onto my pages. Then it's the killer wait for it to dry, horrid when you're on a creative roll. I put mine on the radiator, it's a bit warped, but it'll flatten out with time.

Can't waste the excess ink, so I splooshed it onto some white card.

I sponged ink through the feather stencil from the Lollipop Box and outlined them to make leaves and dreamcatcher feathers.

ANd finally I was ready for my word....and all the other words I'd considered. I just wrote them all on there!

I like that the white rings are the only clear space on the pages, it's busy, but there's a few little spots of white for the eye to rest on.

I had a little helper..... Min the kitten.
